SenseMaker

SenseMaker® is a new online journal to support ABioSA’s early learning, real-time monitoring, and the identification of shifting patterns, outliers, and emerging opportunities.

The process aims to strengthen impact by informing upcoming activities and generating insights that can also benefit other organisations. The online journal will form part of ABioSA’s ongoing monitoring and evaluation system and will capture both positive and negative experiences.

Contributions encourage honest reflection on ABioSA activities and broader issues within the sector. As a dynamic sense-making process, participants are not required to stick to a single narrative but can explore evolving perspectives over time.

This new tool will be added to the ABioSA Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MERL) as mainstreaming insight and change management activity across the phase III project period.

The realtime SenseMaker® storywall shows participants’ stories captured during the ABioSA Project Steering Committee meeting on 26 February 2026.

Participants were asked the following:

ABioSA regularly facilitates learning, dialogues and knowledge exchange through knowledge products (KPs), peer-exchange, and broader jointly hosted platforms such as the African Biotrade Festival (ABF) and Biotrade Stakeholder Forums. Your reflections on how these events, engagements, and knowledge products added value to you are important and will help us design our upcoming activities and assist other organisations in collaborating and contributing that add value to all stakeholders involved. Your stories and insights will shape how we can be better together in Phase 3 as we learn from and with each other”.
